ABOUT US

The principle owner and operator of North Texas Avionics, Mike Ferrer, is an A&P IA and a instrument-rated private pilot. He started his aviation career working on C119 and C130 aircraft at Fairchild-Hiller in 1968 and later obtained his private pilot's license in 1970. He joined GTE/Verizon as Special Services technician in 1973 and, 31 years later, retired as Director of IT Operations for Verizon International.

Mike currently owns a Piper Dakota and was building an RV-7 in his spare time. He is also a Amateur Radio Operator (Ham) and is licensed in the USA (W4GEC) and The Bahamas (C6AGK).

Although specializing in aircraft altimeter and transponder inspections and certifications (91.411 and 91.413), North Texas Avionics also provides many other services, such as avionics sales, installation, repairs, supplies, custom wiring harness fabrication and dynamic propeller balancing. We also do bench repair of older transponders, such at the Narco AT-50/50A and 150, King KT-76/76A and many others.

We are "experimental friendly" and have provided our services to homebuilders throughout the DFW area. We enjoy working with the customer and encourage owner participation.

We can come to you! Many services can be performed at the your location saving you time, trouble and gas.

Please browse through our website and give us a call if we can be of service. We are usually available nights and weekends either on the phone or via email.

North Texas Avionics is owned and operated by Ferrer Aviation Services, LLC.

Our shop was previously located in our hangar at Stagecoach Hills Airpark (4TX2) in Westlake, Texas, about 5 miles east of Alliance Airport (KAFW). We moved to Hicks Airfield (T67) in October of 2015.

Because we have experience building an RV-7, we've established a close relationship with the homebuilder community and we understand their requirements. We can help you work out the bugs in your avionics panel, certify your transponder and altimeters, weigh your aircraft with certified scales and dynamically balance your prop with high-quality test equipment.
